The paws of CueCat need to rest gently on the packaging. Put the front of the scanner, (the red light comes out the front of the scanner), down on the surface of the item to the left of the barcode. Hold it like a pen between your thumb and forefinger. If this happens you will need to change the hot key or stop the application from launching when the OS starts.Ī wand barcode reader like the CueCat can take a bit of getting used to.
The CueCat does use the F10 key and on some systems this is a global hot key that opens another application.
Try another hub or plug the CueCat directly into a USB port on your computer. Most hubs provide this but if the red light does not come on when you plug it in, check to make sure your USB hub is supplying power. The USB CueCat does require a power supply from your computer.
If not, just hold your finger over the light until it comes on solid. Normally this happens automatically when you place the barcode reader on the surface of the item. The USB CueCat will start to flash after a period on inactivity.

They use the same driver as USB keyboards and mice. The USB device driver is provided by the operating system, barcode readers are Human Interface Devices or HID. Both the USB and PS/2 versions should be recognized automatically by your system.

Now the work can be done without loosing to much time. Out of many other software which I tested within last couple of months (JabRef, Citavi, BonitaBPM, Mendeley, Krystal DMS, OpenKM Document Management – DMS, Archiva, Zotero, Bibliographix, Biblioscape, Colwiz, EndNote, SharePoint etc.) Data Crow is the one, which has it all, what other software were lacking (mainly working on existing filestructure on shared drives without touching/moving/copying any of existing files).

I was looking for a software, which will help in organizing email communication, attachments, documentation, procedures, files on shared drives.Ĭataloguing, seraching, editing all above only with File Explorer from Windows was a comlete nightmare and took huge ammount of time to actually do anything. What I have to say, after initial difficulties, I am convinced that this software can help me manage my more than 1000 CDs. Then I have (38 Special) recognize the imported CDs with Tagman and the new directories could also be processed. But that is associated with a lot of time and effort. First (3 Doors Down) I re-read the CDs and everything was OK. For CDs read in from 3 Doors Down and 38 Special came at the end of an error message that I had to confirm for each title, then there was nothing, the CD was not read. Easy today! Therefore, in the name may not be " ' "! It turned once again a problem. So I deleted the 10'000 maniacs entries, changed the name to 10000 maniacs in the directory and read them again. That left me no peace and today I tried again with A-HA, read in 5 CDs without problems, all in container A-HA. So it went on, in the end I had two in the container and three somewhere. This went well until the third CD, then one of the previously read was deleted from the container. I then changed the name to name: 10'000 maniacs. First the software changed its name to first name: 10 and cash on delivery: 000 maniacs and name: 000 maniacs 10. I started with 10'000 maniacs and many problems. Yesterday I started reading CDs! These are all on my computer so I could read them from the directory. I'm from Switzerland and we have the 1000 character like this: 1'000.
